978 to go!

There is an ancient Japanese legend that states anyone who folds a 1000 paper cranes in one year will be granted a wish from the Gods. Some believe this grants you with eternal luck, a wish or recovery from an illness/injury.

Cranes and dragons and other mythical creatures are believed to live for thousands of years, hence 1000 cranes (Senbazuru).
